if you could click your fingers (part2) how to get the life you want…

1

It’s been fantastic to see everyone’s dreams on the first part of this blog post. Obviously many of you have spent some great time thinking about your dreams – I have photos of my dream everywhere, it makes me more focused! I also know that many of you have read and thought about the post, but didn’t comment and that’s fair enough, you’re still going to benefit from part two…

So, where’s all this going Simon? you ask… ‘you got me all excited, right?’  Well, I want you to get to your dream, it’s all possible. I’ve learned over the past few years that we’re all conditioned to our surroundings. We get comfortable, do what’s within our ‘zones’ and this often leaves us stuck in a rut. In what’s to follow, are simple steps you can take to move closer to your goal. This isn’t based on some idea, it’s personally helped me and thousands of others through other world leaders in personal development, my mentors!

We need to remember that we attract everything into our lives, we can’t blame anybody else! The money you’re earning, the weight you’re at, the people you’re surrounded by, that was your decision. To some this might sound harsh, but it’s true – the law of attraction states that what we wish for, we’ll get more of. So if you say ‘I don’t want to be fat’, you’ll put on weight. If you’re constantly thinking ‘I hate this relationship’, you’ll hate the relationship. It won’t develop.

I’ve been over this before, but by reshaping the way you word things in your mind, to turning a negative into a postitive; such as ‘I’m learning how to be a healthy person’, things will change in your subconscious mind. Interestingly, each time you think a negative thought, the more it gets stacked up and reinforced, like a pile of bricks so heavy, you find it hard to get out of that mindset. On the flip side, the more positive thoughts you stack, the more you’ll develop this habit, they’re just rituals. One of the biggest thing’s that’s helped me over the years is the knowledge that ‘it’s never as bad as you think’. We all worry so much it makes us go crazy and it’s never normally that bad.

You’re probably thinking, how is this going to help me get the life I want? Well, it’s a baby step. The biggest changes come from taking action on the fears you have. We all do things to move towards pleasure, or to avoid pain, and the latter often wins. The unknown is simply too painful for people to process, but the most successful people in life with their relationships, earnings and lives in general take the ‘risks’ and come out the other side happier and more fulfilled. They take that ‘pain’ feeling and jump over it, like a massive puddle that you could walk around but no, you go for the jump, knowing you might get wet! That’s not to say you have to take silly risks like jumping off a cliff! Maybe it’s about leaving someone that’s not supporting you with your weight loss – alternatively you could find a solution.

Remember that if you’re constantly having a problem, you need to make some kind of change to make it work or the problem will continue. Maybe it’s that decision to take your passion and turn it into a job. The pain is holding you back, but really, what’s the worst that can happen?

I’ll tell you a little story… When I was 16, I worked in magazines, I worked for other people and yes it was great, but then I took the risk and started my own publishing company. It failed, badly! I lost everything, my flat, my girlfriend, and I ended up working as a temp. I just wasn’t happy, that wasn’t me at my best. I got stuck in a rut and for months I wasn’t doing what I was passionate about. I ended up getting fit and that’s when I said ’sod it’. I’m going to do what I’m passionate about! I borrowed money to become a personal trainer. From becoming a trainer, I wrote a three-page document and called it the ‘Lunch Box Diet’ for my clients. From that came the e-book and book deal, and from that developed the business I’m now in. I’m here writing to you with the spare time I have because I love to change people’s lives.

Unfortunately many young people get conditioned to thinking they can’t ‘be somebody’ – one comment from a teacher, one moment can shape how they worth themselves. I look at people clearly unhappy in dead end jobs, ‘just getting by’ and think, ‘you have a passion, you can get the life you want, but what moment in your life held you back?’. It’s good for people to look to their past.

My point is, is that one single switch you make can change everything, I mentioned it in ‘The Snowball Effect’. But what I’ve really learned is that everything can be learned. Do you think that the most successful people in their lives are any different from you? No! They just immerse themselves in knowledge and model themselves on other successful people. Rather than sitting in front of the TV, they learn about how to be healthy, or become better at their job. They learn how to move up the ladder, how to negotiate a pay rise, how to overcome a relationship problem. If something isn’t quite right, you can develop the skills to make it right, and that’s what’s so exciting.

Blimey this post is going to be huge, but I’ll carry on.

How does this relate to losing weight, getting fit and so on? MASSIVELY! Your circle of friends, your current job, your relationship will all be affecting your weight. If you’re not in the right relationship you may comfort eat; the stress of your job may cause you to reach for food. At the moment you think it’s because you can’t motivate yourself to hit the gym or stick to a diet plan but chances are some other ‘pin’ needs to be pulled to let all the fat flow out. Do you get the idea?

I NEVER would have imagined being a personal trainer, but it became a passion for me. You have a dream, something you’ve been meaning to do, and it’s completely achievable. So here’s some simple tips on how to get there:

  • Read something that will help you boost your career / personal life / health every day without fail.
  • If you’re not happy in your job, write down 5 ideal jobs and find someone who’s in a job like that and find out how they got into it. Model what they’ve done and ask them if they’ll mentor you. People feel good when people ask them stuff like that, it makes them feel good!
  • Start developing a circle of successful friends. You don’t have to ditch your current friends, but ask yourself, what are they ‘bringing’ to my life, and the same goes for your partner if they’re not helping to develop you. Maybe you need to sit down and say how you feel. If they brush you off, brush them off!
  • Remember that if you’re not ‘growing’ yourself, you’re not simply standing still, but you’re essentially ‘dying’. Ask yourself the question, are you growing?
  • Start taking action on the things you want to do and think about the end result and step over the fear factor because reality is, it’s never as bad as you thought, ask, what’s the worst that can happen!
  • Take the moments when you’re most happy and motivated to take action, these are hot spots.
  • Be the best you can be to everyone, treat everyone how you’d want to be treated, and if they don’t treat you the same, don’t be associated with them – this one simple tip will change your life.
  • Be passionate!
  • If finances are an issue, the library is free and you can learn a skill to make you more money. Write down 5 things you’re passionate about and make it a goal to have a career in that sector within one year.
  • Understand other people’s point of view and agree to disagree. Walk around with a smile.
  • Teach what you know and help others and feel the satisfaction from being a mentor to others who need your help.
  • Write down your goals and put them on a bit of paper where you can see them every day. Put a small card in your bag, something that you see every day.
  • When you think ’shall I or shall I not’, whatever it is, do it and you’ll probably be very surprised at the result. Normally you’re only losing time. For example, I made an enquiry about a new venue for a venture I was thinking about recently. When it came to the day, I was thinking, ‘well it didn’t sound that good and i’m really busy today, I might cancel’, but then I remembered what I’m telling you now, and it may turn out to be one of the best decisions of my life! Oh yeah! :-)
  • Imagine yourself ten years from now in the position you’re in. Would you be happy?
  • Grab a copy of my ebook ‘Creating Your Gorgeous Life’ which outlines my three step formula to reaching your goals. As always it comes with my no quibble money back guarantee.
  • Be sure to join my free academy at www.weightlossacademy.co.uk and ‘become a fan’ – it’s those constant triggers from me that will keep you on track!

So, is it time to take your baby step to your dream? Oh I think so! :-)

Finally, I’d really appreciate your comments which you can add below and please share this post with anybody you care about who needs a nudge!

Lastly, this version of the song made me feel good, maybe it will you for you too, it’s all about dreams and inspiration, but I’ve never been to New York, it’s one of my goals!

….’there’s nothing you can’t do’

Much love

Simon
