thanks Simon. those are food for thought indeed. I take my dog for a long walk in the evenings now the summer is here, and i know he will expect that in the winter now ive started, and that will encourage me to go out even when it isnt nice, and gets me away from the kitchen for an hour

I'm a running hater also! I can do intervals pretty well but running for more than 2 minutes is not my thing. I've always wanted to run long enough to get runners high, but usually just feel like dying instead! Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I am just about to start the lunchbox diet, made one up tonight as a matter of fact... I think the retreat is a very good idea, I think cost could be an issue for some people, as much as I would like a room to myself sharing options should also be considered. This worked well when i went on a juicing retreat... I definatley thinks lots of exercise and like the idea of a bootcamp but with the pampering side as well. Definately cooking healthy breakfasts/dinners would be a good idea so we can get some inspiration - particularly with spices and herbs, as I like hot spicy food and it is a bit of a challenge for me to how to do this with lunches...

Hi-I used to run and love it but 2 years ago I pulled a calf muscle and couldn't run for a very long time. I'm trying to start again but I'm really struggling. Any help would be fab!

Hi All, what inspiring stories. I've recently started running on the treadmill but de-motivated by the fact that I cant run for very long before I'm absolutely out of breath. My goal is to improve my fitness, but most of all to tone my wobbly bits. Please send me your "Beginners" running guide so I can get the running bug !! :O)

I started running well slow jogging, last year to take part in the local Race for Life. It was difficult at first but as time went on I found I enjoyed it more & more. I'd suffered with "bad knees" for many years and always used that as my excuse to not attempt running but since doing the race for life, my knees have been fine (as I've built up the muscles thereby making my knees more stable) but had a set back in October last year due to a hamstring injury which led to an underlying sciatic nerve problem. I was unable to run at all and the weight piled back on. I finally finished physio two weeks ago and was really looking forward to getting back out there running but have been laid up with a chest infection ever since :0(
So the point is, running can become addictive especially if you've got good tunes on the go and find a nice, safe scenic route. I've just watched the London marathon and that has inspired me to apply for next years one so any help or advice that you have to build up stamina for distance running and weight loss would be greatly appreciated. :0)

Well actually I like running but have forgone it for pole walking. It's just as good as running and is less taxing on your knees. I do have my moments when I need to run then I use public transport. By that I mean- I intentionally will take time dressing up and then oops I notice I have only five minutes to catch the bus so I make a dash for it. It's a 1 1/2 km dash. I feel exhilarated and perfectly flushed when I reach the bus or for that matter the train. So, that's one way I get my fill of running. Listening to good music and running is another way of taking your mind of running. I'm usually so immersed in the music that I don't realize I'm running. It just goes with the flow. For those who hate running maybe they should conjure ways to make it less tedious.
